Dismayed by the cupcake fever that was sweeping the country, baker and pastry chef Dinah Grossman opened Cheap Tart in the fall of 2010, believing that quality pies and classy tarts were the antidote to the cake and frosting epidemic. At Cheap Tart, we don’t make anything we wouldn’t feel good about eating ourselves. Our baked goods are made with wholesome ingredients, free of hydrogenated shortenings, lard, and artificial sweeteners.We use organic eggs, milk, and cream and, when at all possible, our produce is organic too. Poultry and meat for our savory items are locally raised by farming friends around Illinois. This is food you can feel good about eating. Go ahead and have another slice!
Please note! At this time we are an online shop only. We do NOT have a retail location, (yet!) so sadly we don’t have a place for customers to pick up orders. We’d love for you to place an order in our online shop, and we will deliver your pies to you within the Chicago area (north to Devon, east to the Lake, south to Pershing Road, and west to Austin).
