Today's faucets are commonly made from brass with various finishing such as gold plating and powder-coated enamel. However, brass contains lead which can cause lead poisoning that will eventually lead to many serious health problems. Due to this, all faucet manufacturers in the U.S. are not allowed to include more than 8 percent of this substance in their brass faucets, according to the Safe Drinking Water Act. If you are concerned about your health, you might want to look into other alternative such as ceramic faucets since ceramic does not contain dangerous chemicals that might harm our body.
Besides black and white faucets, there are other colors such as green, red and blue which are available in almost every home improvement store. But before buying such colors, you need to make sure that they match the all over look of your kitchen, because if they are not evenly matched, these faucets can look very weird in your kitchenette.
When you get a low faucet, you might have problem filling up a big pot with water. In such cases, you may prefer to look for one which has its spout higher like a goose neck instead. You have to also consider the way you turn the handle to control the flow of water. Some may turn upward while some may turn outward in order to get the water supply running. You have to try them out to feel if it is comfortable enough for you so that it will not be an obstacle for you when you are washing in the kitchen.
