The kettle makes it a very efficient kitchen appliance. The rate at which it boils water is more than any other appliance would do. For someone with one, they are able to have a hot or warn drink throughout the day; instantly. Newer versions have a chamber for thermos that allows hot water to be retained for longer periods without getting cold. Electric kettles like the iron kettles have added advantages in that they give extra iron to their users. Its only setback is that it consumes a lot of energy but; all for a good and time saving cause. The slow cooker on the other hand is as efficient. With the current wave of people spending lots of time studying or working, the slow cookers helps such people to get well cooked home made food easily. It is additionally very cheap and energy saving. Though initially having been introduced in the market in the 70's, its usage is yet to be overtaken by any other cooker.
One of the first things you need to think about when you are looking for small kitchen appliances is how much space you have and where they will go in your kitchen. Some appliances will `live` on worktops all of the time. Classic examples of this are kettles and toasters. Others may be stored in a cupboard until you need to use them after which they go back in the cupboard again. Both the cupboard and surface space you have available will thus have a bearing on the appliance that you buy.
For centuries, kitchens have been present in each and every household, whether big or small. Servants used to do most of the kitchen work in the past, especially in the homes of affluent families. However, housewives ended up doing most of the culinary tasks in the kitchen after the civil war period since most people don't have servants anymore. And because of this, majority of the kitchen appliance were invented to help in carrying out the job at a lesser time and with greater ease.
