Tackle one drawer at a time. Organizing solutions need not take a long time. Set aside a specified amount of time. Limit a maximum of 30 minutes for a large drawer or one that hold lots of items. Smaller, less full drawers put 10-15 minutes time maximum on these sized drawers. This way you stay focused, don't waste time, and you get done quicker and leave more time for other things. When kitchen drawer organizing is done in small, manageable chinks of time, then I find I am more likely to do it more often so will you.
The counter heights were at a special height as we are both tall, so the counter was perfect for working on for us. This is sometime to be considered if you have planning to keep your home for a long time or if are you remodeling the kitchen to increase the selling value. We also put carpet in the kitchen. The rest of the house had either hard wood or marble flooring, but the kitchen was to be soft under foot for the standing time is greater there than anywhere else in the house.
Try using drawer organizers to contain what you want in each drawer. These always work well for your silverware but they are great for holding those pens and pencils too. Sort through your spoons, spatulas, tongs etc. and ask yourself if your using them and how often? You may find that you have duplicate items but you only use a select few that are your favorites. Categorize and group together different utensils that you need but don't use every day. Take for example a garlic press, can opener, egg slicer, specialty knives for cheese and vegetables etc. Knowing that you keep these items together will make them easier to find when they are needed.
